For years, I cooked massive feasts for Ryan’s family. Tamales, pork shoulder, mac and cheese, tres leches cake — I spent hundreds of dollars and hours while Ryan took the credit. He told his mother he “handled” Thanksgiving sides, even though I made everything. He accepted thanks for dinners he never paid for or prepared.
The breaking point came when Ryan said, in front of his brother, “If you want to eat, pay for your own food. I’m sick of supporting you like a queen.”
I started documenting everything. Receipts, bank statements, screenshots, a spreadsheet tracking every meal, cost, and hours I cooked while Ryan claimed credit. I recorded conversations. I built two folders: one for the past, one for the future.
