The black SUV belonged to the buyers, a young couple Marcus had lined up before Roland ever came downstairs. They stepped out with a folder of their own, ready to do a final walkthrough of the home they now legally owned. Roland watched them cross his lawn, his lawn, in his mind, and something in his face finally understood that this was real.
