Hidden Success

My parents expected me to spend Christmas Eve cooking, cleaning, and serving my younger sister’s important guests because they believed it was the only thing I was good at. They ignored the fact that I had built a successful consulting company with dozens of employees. Instead of obeying, I flew to New York for the biggest business meeting of my career after discovering that my sister’s special guest, CEO Nathaniel Price, was also the executive preparing to award my company a multimillion-dollar contract.

Christmas Eve quickly fell apart without me. My family ignored my suggestions to hire professional caterers, and the dinner became chaotic as guests arrived to unfinished tables and empty serving dishes.
