Mr. Ellsworth looked directly at Marcus. “Any party who knowingly forges Vivienne’s signature to transfer trust-protected property forfeits any claim to the trust’s discretionary distributions, and becomes personally liable for the fraud.” He paused. “Mr. Marcus, you were listed as a contingent beneficiary. A generous one. Rosalind left you a share, conditional on good faith. You forged your wife’s name this morning. You have just signed that share away with your own hand.” Marcus’s knees seemed to give slightly. “How much,” he whispered. Mr. Ellsworth told him.
