She said you and Theo decided to postpone it after a fight, and that Vivian’s engagement dinner was the only real celebration happening that weekend. I had no idea you actually got married that day. None of us did.”

Iris sat frozen at her kitchen table, the coffee now completely cold. “She told you it was postponed? Why would she lie about that?” Corinne hesitated before answering. “I think… I think she wanted Vivian’s night to be the center of attention. Your sister gets jealous easily, and your mother has always smoothed things over for her instead of dealing with it directly. I’m so sorry. If I’d known, I would have been there.”
