The Fake HOA President Picked The Wrong Prairie And The Wrong Diesel Mechanic To Bully

The county courthouse settled it in under an hour. I pulled every recorded document on my parcel, and then on the surrounding land, and there was nothing. No homeowners association. No covenants. No dues agreement. No “Ravenwood Estates” registered anywhere in the county’s records. Sabrina Holloway’s entire HOA existed only inside a binder with fresh ink and mismatched timestamps. The clerk, an older woman who had worked there for decades, raised an eyebrow when I explained what had happened. “Ravenwood Estates?” she said. “Honey, there’s no such thing. That woman and her husband built the only house out there four years ago.” Then she lowered her voice. “You’re not the first person to come in here asking about her.”

That was the detail that turned my annoyance into something colder. I asked the clerk what she meant, and she told me, carefully, that two other landowners in the past few years had come in confused about “HOA dues” on agricultural parcels near the Holloway mansion. One of them, an elderly man who had inherited his family’s farmland, had actually paid Sabrina thousands of dollars before he passed away, believing the covenants were real. She had been running the same scam for years, targeting new owners, inherited parcels, anyone she thought would be too intimidated or too uninformed to check the public record. She had counted on exactly one thing: that people don’t push back. She had picked the wrong diesel mechanic.
