The Forged Signature And The Estate Attorney Who Turned One Cruel Eviction Into A Criminal Case

Vivian held the page up so the movers, the sunlight, and my frozen family could all see it at once. It was a quitclaim deed, filed with the county three weeks earlier, claiming to transfer my house into Delaney’s name. And there, on the signature line beside my printed name, was a signature that was supposed to be mine. It wasn’t. My father opened his mouth, closed it, and looked at the deed the way a man looks at a trap he built himself and then forgot about. I stood on my own porch, in the house my grandparents’ money had quietly protected, and watched the performance my family had rehearsed fall apart in real time. Then Vivian turned to me and asked the one question that would decide everything. “Brynn, do you want to handle this quietly, or do you want to press charges?”
