Warren crossed the living room, took the package gently out of Gregory’s hands, and set it down on the table like it was something that deserved respect. Then he turned to face the room full of laughing men, and his voice cut straight through the noise. “You want to know what that is?” he said. “That’s what surviving three babies at once looks like. My wife wore the same thing for a year after our son was born. She almost didn’t make it through that delivery. So the next man who laughs is laughing at her too.” The room went dead silent.
