The room erupted. Damian’s father stood, demanding to know what was happening. My own family, my twin girls and my son Sebastian, sat frozen in the second row, watching the man who had asked them to call him “Dad” exposed as a con artist. I explained, calmly, into the microphone, what I had overheard the day before: that Damian had never loved me, that he had planned to marry me, drain my house and savings through paperwork he was pressuring me to sign, and then discard me and my children like they were nothing.
