The competition ran all afternoon, round after round, and I sat where the parents sat, watching my boys do what they had trained years to do. Theo and Silas were not ordinary competitors. They had swept their regional division, and their names were quietly known among the coaches who followed the circuit. Across the auditorium, I could see Marcus and Sabrina cheering for Caleb, who was talented, genuinely, and made it further than most. But when the final mathematics and science rounds narrowed the field, it was my twins who kept advancing, name after name falling away, until the scoreboard on the enormous screen showed only a handful of finalists left.<\/p>\n
