I watched the recording three times. My mother, unlocking a door I never gave her permission to copy. My sister behind her, carrying a tape measure into rooms she had already decided were hers. They had let themselves in two days before my housewarming to measure for furniture, or a tent, or Thanksgiving beds. I did not yet know which, and it did not matter.
