Trevor lunged for the folder, but Kayla stepped back and held up a second document, a court-stamped copy already on file. She explained, in the calm voice of someone who had planned this as carefully as I had, that any attempt to force my signature or move me against my will would be reported as elder abuse and attempted fraud. She had spoken to my lawyer months ago. The taxi ride I took, the four missing hours, the buyer who hugged me so tightly, all of it had been Kayla.<\/p>\n
